The Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA) is a public research and extension institution that has a large experience in agricultural research and technological transfer services since 1975. Two of the seven departments (Centro de Agroingeniería and Centro de Protección Vegetal) will be involved in PURE. The extension and transfer is organized in five experimental stations distributed throughout the Valencian region. IVIA has a wide multi-disciplinary scope on agricultural and horticultural research, biotechnology, agricultural engineering and post-harvest technology. Researchers and technicians have a large experience in research activities. IVIA has excellent links with the professional sector through cooperation agreements with the Regional Grower Association and the Regional Cooperative Organization. We can then facilitate both the active participation of the industry in the project and the immediate transfer of results. The Entomology group deals with basic and applied aspects of insect-plant interactions, with special emphasis on biotechnological methods for the control of major agricultural pests. The Centro de Agroingenieria has expertise in machine vision, electronics and machinery for precise plant protection, as well as in greenhouse technology.
